IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi International) has converted twenty of its 430 A320neo order with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) to the larger A321neo as it looks to boost capacity and operate longer flights, the airline confirmed in a statement. It did not provide further details.

IndiGo has taken delivery of eight of the A320neos it has on order and maintains operations with a further 107 A320-200s. The conversion will see the low cost carrier’s first shift towards larger aircraft as part of its plans to continue expanding operations to points outside of India.

The airline maintains domestic flights, as well as international services from India to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Dubai International, Kathmandu, Muscat and Singapore Changi. Last year the carrier told the Economic Times it was considering introducing flights to China as well.
