Jazeera Airways (J9, Kuwait) has revealed that it is looking at serving select European destinations as part of its international expansion plan.
In a third quarter financial filing with the Kuwait Stock Exchange, the LCC said its plans to partner an established "international operator" were still in their early stages. However, once the partnership does eventually come into being, the longhaul services will operate non-stop.
Jazeera Airways currently operates seven A320-200s on scheduled flights to sixteen destinations in Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Iraq, and Turkey.
Of the Gulf-based budget carriers, only flydubai (FZ, Dubai International) and Air Arabia (G9, Sharjah) (and its associated North African units) serve Europe. Saudi Arabia's flynas (XY, Riyadh) briefly attempted to operate A330s on flights to the United Kingdom (and Indonesia) in 2014 only to abandon the plan after just six months citing poor loads.
