Mauritania Airlines International (Nouakchott) has taken delivery of its first B737-800 with 5T-CLE (msn 61353) arriving in Nouakchott from Seattle Boeing Field via Gander on Saturday, November 5.

The jet has already been deployed into commercial service plying routes from Nouakchott to Nouadhibou locally and Casablanca Mohamed V and Tunis internationally.

During the aircraft's arrival ceremony, Mauritanian president Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz said a B737 MAX 8 would arrive next year in line with government's plan to reinvigorate the airline.

MAI also operates two B737-500s, one B737-700, and one E145LR on scheduled flights throughout Mauritania as well as to the Ivory Coast, Mali, Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Spain, and Tunisia.
