Avianca Argentina, the trading name of Avian Líneas Aéreas (Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery), has confirmed plans to commence operations early next year using a fleet of ATR72-600s.
Announcing the move, Germán Efromovich, the chairman of Synergy Aerospace, said the carrier would be equipped with up to eighteen ATR72-600s the first of which are due to arrive in Argentina before year end.
The firm's order with ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) currently entails twelve firm aircraft with six options.
"Avian Líneas Aéreas will provide an essential service across the Argentinian market, introducing new regional routes and connections to and from main hubs, first in Buenos Aires and then in Córdoba International," Efromovich said. "The first delivery is expected before the end of the year, with entry into service planned for the first quarter of 2017."
Synergy Aerospace acquired Macair Jet S.A. in March this year for an undisclosed sum. Argentine government records show the airline's corporate name was subsequently changed to Avian Líneas Aéreas S.A. in May.
