Hawaiian Airlines (HA, Honolulu) has announced it now expects a three-month delay in the delivery of its first A321neo owing to continued delays linked to the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G powerplant.

In an SEC filing, the carrier said Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) had notified it of the delay which will affect its first three A321neo deliveries. The arrival of the first aircraft is now slated for the fourth quarter of 2017, it said.

Hawaiian Airlines has a total of sixteen A321neo on order from the Europeans with purchase rights for an additional nine.

Deliveries are set to run from 2017 through to 2020 with three set to arrive in 2017, six in 2018, six in 2019, and one in 2020. The A321neo will be used to boost capacity on Hawaiian's busier North American markets and to offer direct flights to the smaller Hawaiian island markets from popular gateways on the US West Coast.
