Fly Viking (Tromsø) says it expects to complete its AOC certification with the Norwegian civil aviation authority (Luftfartstilsynet) early next month in time for a tentative March launch.

In a statement, the start-up said that while its initial services would focus on connecting the Norwegian coastal towns of Hammerfest, Alta, Tromsø, and Bodø, it would also evaluate new routes to cities and towns such as Vadsø, Kirkenes, Mo i Rana, Sandnessjøen, Brønnøysund, Orsta/Volda, and Oslo.

Operations are on-board Dash 8-100 turboprop aircraft but unspecified jet aircraft may also be introduced at a later stage. Reports in the Norwegian press last year suggested airline chairman and CEO Ola Giæver was considering the SSJ 100/95 as well as Embraer Regional Jets and the Bombardier Aerospace C Series as possible options.
