Tigerair Australia (Melbourne Tullamarine) says it is in the process of resolving its impasse with the Indonesian regulatory authorities and now expects to resume flights to Denpasar early next month.

The budget carrier said in a statement that it has now secured what it termed "a key approval" from the Indonesian government to operate scheduled flights to and from Bali using its A320 aircraft. Previous flights operated onboard B737-800 equipment leased from parent Virgin Australia (VA, Brisbane International) which, together with the sale of one-way tickets to Indonesia, brought about the revocation of Tigerair's service rights last week.

As such, subject to final procedural approvals being secured, flights to the resort city from each of Brisbane International, Melbourne Tullamarine, and Sydney Kingsford Smith are expected to resume from February 3.

In the meantime, flights to Bali will be suspended but Virgin Australia will, however, transport passengers who were scheduled to travel with Tigerair from Bali to Australia between Friday, January 20 and Thursday, February 2 (inclusive) where possible.
