Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa International) will run daily flights between Addis Ababa International and Kaduna, Nigeria, for the duration of runway works at Abuja.

Firiehiwot Mekonnen, Ethiopian's Traffic and Sales Manager (Nigeria), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview last week that the Star Alliance carrier had inspected Kaduna's facilities but had urged government to improve its facilities before the March 8 deadline. The route will operate on-board B787-8 equipment, she said.

Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport will close to all traffic between March 8 and April 9 to allow resurfacing works to proceed. Unlike Ethiopian, other large-scale international carriers that have chosen not to use Kaduna, located 190 kilometres north of the capital, include British Airways, South African Airways, Turkish Airlines, Air France, and Lufthansa.
