Qeshm Airlines (QB, Tehran Mehrabad) plans to launch a direct Tehran Imam KhomeiniBrussels Charleroi flight in the near future, reports Iran's official IRNA news agency. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mahmoud Shekarabi made the announcement this week at a meeting with the Belgian Ambassador to Iran François Delhaye.

As previously reported, Qeshm will likely make its European debut later this month with flights between the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz and Hamburg Helmut Schmidt in Germany. Operations are to be on-board the carrier's recently delivered A319-100, EP-SAS (msn 2091), of which type two more are expected in the coming months.

Speaking of the Brussels route, Shekarabi said that it will expand tourism ties between Iran and Europe, given Belgium's central location, and will provide good opportunities for Iranian businesses.

Qeshm Air secured its Third Country Operator (TCO) licence from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in October last year, alongside IranAir (IR, Tehran Mehrabad) and Mahan Air (W5, Tehran Mehrabad), becoming the first Iranian carriers to do so. An application by Kish Air (KIS, Tehran Mehrabad) is still in progress.
