TAP Portugal (Lisbon) is set to take delivery of four new A320neo family aircraft and two A330-900s between 2018 and 2020, leased from BOC Aviation. All six aircraft will be sourced from BOC's orderbook with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac).

The lease agreement opens up a new customer for BOC.

"TAP Portugal represents yet another new European customer and we are delighted to begin our partnership with this national carrier, which will expand our globally diversified customer portfolio even further," said BOC's Chief Commercial Officer, Steven Townend.

The Portuguese airline says the new aircraft are part of its process of upgrading its fleet.

"TAP’s fleet renewal plan, that includes 53 brand new Airbus NEO family aircraft, is a foundational element of our business strategy," said TAP's Vice President of Finance, Teresa Lopes. "BOC Aviation’s ability to design innovative solutions to help finance new aircraft was very important for TAP. We are sure BOC Aviation and TAP will now be starting a mutually beneficial and cooperative long term relationship going forward."

TAP operates an all-Airbus fleet comprising: twenty-one A319-100, nineteen A320-200s, four A321-200s, fifteen A330-200s, three A330-300s (inactive), and four A340-300s.
