Wataniya Airways (Kuwait) has taken delivery of its first of two A320-200s leased from Air Arabia (G9, Sharjah). 9K-EAS (msn 6080) was positioned to Kuwait from Sharjah on Thursday, June 22, and is slated to begin revenue operations for the resurgent Kuwaiti carrier in the coming days. As previously reported, Bahrain International and Jeddah International have been touted as tentative initial destinations.

The full-service carrier suspended operations in March 2011 after running into severe financial difficulties brought on by tough market conditions and regional unrest. Prior to that, it had operated a fleet of seven leased A320s on flights from Kuwait to destinations across the Persian Gulf, the wider Middle East and Europe.
