The Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment (MOPI) has objected to the establishment of SkyViet Aviation (Ho Chi Minh City) saying its lack on input on the project was a violation of local laws.

The official Voice of Vietnam radio station reports MOPI's objection was lodged during the recent public consultation phase of the carrier's licensing procedure. It claims that despite local laws requiring both it and the Ministry of Finance to provide input on any matters pertaining to state-owned enterprises, neither of them were ever consulted. As such, the procedure has been put on hold while the necessary investigations are carried out.

Formerly VASCO - Vietnam Air Services (0V, Ho Chi Minh City), SkyViet is a joint-venture between Vietnam Airlines (VN, Hanoi Noi Bai International) (51%) and local firm Techcombank and its Techcomdeveloper unit with 48% and 1% respectively. It was granted a business license in April and was due to have completed its re-certification requirements by the end of June.
