Aer Southeast (Waterford) has been forced to suspend the sale of tickets following a directive from the Irish Commission for Aviation Regulation (CAR).

Last week, the virtual carrier began selling tickets for flights from its Waterford base to each of London Luton, Manchester International, and Birmingham, GB set to commence from July 24 onwards.

However, the Irish Independent reports that a subsequent investigation by the CAR showed Aer Southeast did not have the requisite tour operator's license.

An airline statement on the matter said it was tending to the CAR's requirements and that it was working as hard as possible to ensure the flights went ahead as planned.

Aer Southeast is backed by Skytruckers, a consortium of Irish and Scandinavian investors led by Danish national and serial entrepreneur, Einar Adalsteinsson. In terms of operations, it will charter a Saab 340 from Slovenian ACMI/charter specialist, Lipican Aer (8I, Portoroz).
