Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has taken delivery of both A330-300s EC-LXA (c/n 670) and EC-LXR (c/n 1097) on wet-lease from Air Europa (UX, Palma de Mallorca) for use on its Hajj-charter operations. Both aircraft will be based at Makassar and join at least six other A330-200s wet-leased from other carriers already operating for Garuda during previous Hajj seasons such as Air Transat (TS, Montréal Trudeau), Hi Fly (5K, Beja), Monarch Airlines (1968) (London Luton) and XL Airways France (Paris CDG). In addition, Garuda also wet-leased a B747-400 N464MC (msn 26341) from Atlas Air (5Y, New York JFK) for the first time this year. The first batch of pilgrims is scheduled to leave for Saudi Arabia later this month.
