Scandjet (Gothenburg Landvetter) will wet-lease an A340-300 from Portuguese ACMI specialists, Hi Fly (5K, Beja), for Round-the-world flights beginning on January 9 of next year.

Sasha Djakovic, the CEO of Scandjet, told Sweden's flygtorget.se news site that the flights will be routed: Gothenburg Landvetter - Varadero (Cuba) - Iguazu (Argentina) - Santiago de Chile (Chile) - Easter Island (Chile) - Papeete (Tahiti) - Auckland International (New Zealand) - Sydney Kingsford Smith (Australia) - Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia) - Siem Reap (Cambodia) - Abu Dhabi International (United Arab Emirates) - Gothenburg.

Djakovic said that while the B757 and B767 had also been considered for the flights, the A340 was eventually settled on owing to its operational range and immunity to ETOPS (Extended range Twin OPerationS) restrictions.
