Amerijet International (M6, Miami International) has abandoned its Columbus Rickenbacher, OH and Reno/Tahoe cargo hub plans just 2 months after operations commenced there. According to the Ohio's Dispatch, hybrid operations at both airports failed to gain enough traction resulting in their closure.

Amerijet had based one of its B767-200(F)s at Columbus Rickenbacker with a fleet of trucks offering onward delivery services to surrounding areas in the North Eastern United States. A similar operation existed at Reno where another fleet of trucks served West Coast cities.

“The market is there. We just have to figure out how to get enough frequency and volume,” Amerijet president, Dave Bassett, said. “We had hoped it would eventually represent about 10 percent of our business, but it didn’t turn out that way.”

Amerijet operates three B727-200(F)s, three B767-200(F)s and one B767-300F with land, sea and air connections to over 600 points in the Americas, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
