Southwest Airlines (WN, Dallas Love Field) has completed the integration of its AirTran Airways (Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) subsidiary's booking and frequent flyer functions ahead of its planned total absorption into Southwest on December 28, 2014. Southwest acquired AirTran for USD3.2billion in 2011.

The Texan budget carrier said in a statement that all bookings for remaining flights on AirTran Airways flown through December 28, 2014, will now be made through Southwest.com while all of AirTran's A+ Rewards Members have been converted to Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards frequent flyer program.

"Even as we approach the end of our integration process, we're growing and expanding our offerings to Customers," said Bob Jordan, Southwest Airlines Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer, and President of AirTran Airways. "We've taken the final step of integrating our international service and industry-leading loyalty benefits into a cohesive, streamlined, and freshly re-designed Southwest.com."

Southwest recently completed the absorption of AirTran's international services when it took over the Atlanta-based carrier's Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and México City International services. All international flights between seven destinations outside the United States and the carrier's nine U.S. gateway cities are now flown by Southwest.
