RwandAir (WB, Kigali) has secured 5th Freedom traffic rights between Zambia and South Africa with plans to offer the Lusaka to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo sector of its Kigali to Johannesburg via Lusaka flights from March 28. The 3x weekly flights will operate on-board a B737-700.

The Lusaka-Johannesburg route is currently dominated by South African Airways (SA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) and Airlink (South Africa) (4Z, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) though additional competition will come from Namibia flyafrica (Windhoek International) on March 9 and from Fastjet Zambia (Lusaka) once it completes certification later this year.
