Discovery Air (Lagos) is set to resume operations following reports the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will shortly reinstate its Air Operators Certificate (AOC), revoked in January of this year.

Nigeria's Daily Independent newspaper says the Director General of the NCAA, Capt. Muhtar Usman, confirmed the move in a letter to the carrier earlier this week. The reinstatement of its AOC was dependent on it passing a Financial Health Audit. In a bid to move matters along, the airline’s financiers furnished the NCAA with letters of credit guaranteeing the airline's longterm business plans while assuring the watchdog that the carrier would clear outstanding staff salaries by the end of this month.

Launched in June last year, the airline operated daily return flights between Abuja and Lagos using a pair of B737-300s. However, in January, the NCAA revoked its AOC for alleged safety-related violations. The airline disputed these findings claiming the revocation instead pertained to cancelled and delayed flights during the Christmas holidays.
