Seaborne Airlines (BB, San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin) and other carriers serving the Caribbean island of Dominica have suspended their respective operations there until further notice. The move comes after the island's principal gateway - Dominica Melville Hall - sustained severe damage during Tropical Storm Erika's transit last week.

While the airfield has been temporarily closed to commercial traffic, aid flights have begun to arrive with government waiving import duties on relief aid to help foster the island's recovery.

With the airport out of action, ferry companies have increased frequencies to neighbouring Guadeloupe and Martinique where air services are currently available.

Aside from Seabourne Airlines, other carriers affected by Dominica's closure include Air Sunshine (RSI, San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin), Amerijet International (M6, Miami International), and LIAT (Antigua and Barbuda) (Antigua).

Winair (WM, St. Maarten) has temporarily launched a daily service between St. Maarten and Dominica Cane Field.
