Air Rarotonga (GZ, Rarotonga) has acquired a maiden Cessna Citation II for use in expanding its domestic Cook Islands, as well as regional, medevac and charter operations.

The 37 year-old twinjet, known to be VH-FOJ (cn 5500057) with Flight Options (Australia) (Sunshine Coast), will arrive in Rarotonga this August once it has completed pre-delivery maintenance checks and gravel-kit fitment in Sydney, Australia. In the meantime, a licence application for the new aircraft has been made to the Cook Islands Ministry of Transport.

The expanded air charter service will be operated under the trade name of Pacific Private Jet (Rarotonga) with long time Air Rarotonga executive Teariki Numanga heading up sales and operations for the venture.

Air Rarotonga also operates a Saab 340A(QC), an E110, and a Cessna (single piston) 172 SkyHawk on regular flights to the surrounding Cook Islands of Aitutaki Island, Atiu Island, Mangaia Island, Mauke Island, and Mitiaro Island.
