Sriwijaya Air (SJ, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) is looking to start longhaul services to Jeddah International, Saudi Arabia by the end of next year the carrier's Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, Agus Soedjono, has said.

Speaking to the Antara news service, Soedjono said: "This is a new market for Sriwijaya Air. We are sure that the demand is high, especially for Umrah (Minor Hajj) trip."

Using a fleet of nine B737-300s, one B737-400, twelve B737-500s, fifteen B737-800s, and two B737-900(ER)s, the carrier currently serves thirty-four destinations throughout Indonesia as well as in East Timor and Malaysia.

Flights from its Denpasar hub to the Chinese cities of Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, and Changsha Huanghua are also slated to roll out by the end of this year, Soedjono added.
