S-Air Salzburg (Salzburg) will indeed acquire two BAe Systems Jetstream 32s Gunther Pitterka, the Managing Director of shareholder Salzburger Eisenbahn-Transport-Logistik GmbH, has told Austrian Aviation Net.

In an interview, Pitterka said that the start-up would focus on scenic flights as well as taxi and charter services using a Piper (single piston) PA-32 Saratoga initially though it does intend to acquire two ex-Blue Islands (SI, Jersey) Jetstream 32s - G-ISLC (cn 873) and G-ISLD (cn 915) - later this autumn.

As such, in preparation of its maiden flight later this year, extensive preparatory work including the rental of a ticket office at Salzburg Airport and sales contracts with tour operators, hotels and other companies have already been made.

Pitterka added that there are no immediate plans to venture into the scheduled services field though that may change two or three years down the road.

S-Air Salzburg is a joint-venture between Salzburger Eisenbahn-Transport-Logistik GmbH and Astrid Emersberger, who also acts as the carrier's Managing Director.
