Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt Int'l) will start daily A340-300 service from Munich to Washington Dulles on May 2. Its alliance partner United Airlines (UA/Chicago O'Hare) already operates a daily B777-200ER service on this route.

Ryanair News Update

Ryanair (FR, Dublin Int'l) will launch daily services from Dublin to Eindhoven and Rome Ciampino, four weekly services to Carcassonne and three weekly services to Biarritz on April 19. It will add twice daily flights from Rome Ciampino to Venice Treviso and Verona Brescia as well as daily flights from Dublin to Doncaster and from Rome Ciampino to Alghero on April 28, daily flights between Dublin and Frankfurt Hahn will start on May 3. All new services will be operated with B737-800s.

Fly Air News Update

Fly Air (F2, Istanbul Atatürk) has been banned from European airspace due to outstanding payments to Eurocontrol for air traffic control services. Other Turkish charter carriers have already taken over most charter flights from Turkey to Europe. Fly Air has launched new weekly scheduled services from Istanbul Ataturk to Ercan and Khartoum.

LOT Polish Airlines (LO, Warsaw Chopin) will lease an ex-Varig (RG/Rio de Janeiro Intl) B767-300ER. It is considering adding Beijing to its network next year.

Malev News Update

Malev (MA, Budapest) will give up its Budapest-Milan Malpensa and Budapest-Dusseldorf routes by the end of March. It will continue to codeshare with Alitalia (AZ/Rome Fiumicino) on the Milan route. It will operate a four times weekly seasonal Fokker 70 service between Budapest and Oslo Gardermoen and a twice weekly B737-700/-800 service from Budapest to Malaga between June and September.

Solinair (SOP, Portoroz) is reportedly planning to operate six weekly services from Milan Malpensa to Siena and five weekly services from Milan Malpensa and Pisa to Elba Island between May and September using its Let 410.

Air France News Update

Air France (AF, Paris CDG) will start up to six times daily service between Paris CDG and Birmingham on March 27 using Cityjet (WX/Dublin) BAe 146-200s. Flybe. (BE/Exeter) will give up the route by the end of this winter timetable. This is the last route Flybe. is operating under an Air France franchise agreement.

Austrian Airlines News Update

Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna) has repainted an A320-200 in Lauda Air (NG/Vienna) colours and a Lauda Air B767-300ER in Austrian Airlines colours. It is expected to repaint all Lauda Air aircraft used for scheduled flights in Austrian colours and all Austrian aircraft used for charter flights in Lauda Air colours.

Nordic Regional (6N, Umeå) will take over a MD-90-30 from SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK/Copenhagen Kastrup) in April. It will use the aircraft for charter flights operated under the Nordic Leisure brand.

Air France (AF, Paris CDG) will include the new daily JAL - Japan Airlines (JL/Tokyo Haneda) flight linking Nagoya's new Chubu International Airport and Paris CDG to its codeshare agreement with the Japanese carrier. Operations on the new route will start on February 17 using B777-200ER equipment.
