CityJet (WX, Dublin Int'l) will add 23 ex-Mesaba Airlines (XJ/Minneapolis/St. Paul) to its fleet to replace its 19 BAe 146-200s and BAe 146-300s. Deliveries will start later this year.

British Airways News Update

British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) will launch daily B777-200 service from London Heathrow to Calgary on December 1 and twice daily service from London City to Madrid on October 30 using BA Connect (TH/Manchester) ARJ-100s. It will give up its Southampton-Glasgow Intl route on October 1 and its flights from the Isle of Man to London Luton as well as from London Gatwick to Vilnius on October 28. It has already given up its Birmingham-Belfast City route on August 21.

Directflight (DCT, Exeter) has started operating scheduled public service obligation services in Scotland on August 1 taking over several routes from Loganair (LOG/Glasgow Intl). It operates six weekly flights from Lerwick to Foula, four weekly flights to Fair Isle and Skerries as well as weekly services to Papa Stour and Skerries using a Britten-Norman Islander.

Hapag-Lloyd Express (X3, Cologne/Bonn) and Hapagfly (HF/Hanover) will be merged in 2007. Further details about the merger process are expected to be published by the end of the year. HLX will replace its B737-500s and Fokker 100s with eight ex-dba (DI/Munich) B737-300s.

SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) has taken delivery of its first of four A319-100s. It will give up its Copenhagen-Newcastle route on September 2. It will launch twice daily service from Copenhagen to Tampere on September 3 instead using CRJ-200s of partner Cimber Air (QI/Sonderborg) and own Dash 8-400s replacing SAS subsidiary Blue (KF/Helsinki) that will give up the route on the same date.
