AirAsia Group will not get involved in any new ventures for the next three years, Group CEO Tony Fernandes said in a Twitter post.

"As 2019 approaches, I would like to confirm that AirAsia will not be opening up any more new airlines for the next 3 years. After Vietnam, we will focus on what we have. Focus this year is to make Indonesia and Philippines very profitable," Fernandes wrote.

Bendigo, Australia, to see first scheduled ops in early 2Q19

Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) will launch the first scheduled route out of Bendigo, VI on April 1, 2019.

The Australian carrier will fly between Bendigo and Sydney Kingsford Smith 6x weekly. All flights will be operated by Eastern Australia Airlines (EAQ, Tamworth) under the Qantas Link brand with Dash 8-300 equipment.

Angola seeks to seize Portuguese properties in Sonair case

The Angolan attorney general has requested the Portuguese Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (Departamento Central de Investigação e Acção Penal - DCIAP) to seize nine real estate properties in Portugal owned by entities linked to the TAP Air Portugal (TP, Lisbon) and Sonair (SOR, Luanda) money laundering case, Sábado has reported.

The names of the entities or individuals owning the specific properties have not been revealed. Reportedly, they are owned by seven entities, mostly offshore companies....

India's Star Air secures AOP, preps for launch

Star Air (India) (OG, Belgaum) has announced it has been granted its Air Operator's Permit (AOP) by the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The licence allows the start-up to operate scheduled passenger flights.

In a statement, Star Air said its first route would cover daily flights from its Bangalore Int'l base to Hubli using E145 equipment. Other touted destinations include Tirupati, Pune, and Delhi/Hindon.

As part of its certification process, it used a single E145, VT-GSC (msn 14500845).

Star Aviation (Algeria) (Hassi Messaoud) has taken delivery of its first DHC-6-400 following the arrival of 7T-VNN (msn 961) in Algeria in late November of last year. A new-build aircraft delivered from Viking Air, it joins the rest of the Algerian carrier's fleet of two DHC-6-300s which average 40 years of age.

Ryanair UK (London Stansted) has been granted an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) by the British Civil Aviation Authority.

"We welcome the Civil Aviation Authority’s decision to grant our UK based airline, Ryanair UK, with a UK AOC, allowing Ryanair (FR, Dublin Int'l) to operate UK domestic routes and UK to non-EU routes in a post-Brexit environment," Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer Juliusz Komorek said.

Qatar Executive takes first two Gulfstream G500s

Qatar Executive (QQE, Doha Int'l) has taken delivery of the first two Gulfstream G500s (Gulfstream VII), becoming the first international customer for the type.

The two units, A7-CGP (msn 72011) and A7-CGQ (msn 72015), were handed over to the Qatari carrier on December 17 during a ceremony at the Gulfstream Aerospace site in Savannah Int'l.

jetBlue Airways (B6, New York JFK) has firmed up a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus's C Series Aircraft consortium for sixty AC?CS3s and options for an additional sixty of the type.

In a presentation issued in July last year marking the MOU's initial signing, the New York-based budget carrier said the first five firm-ordered aircraft would deliver in 2020 followed by four in 2021, eight in 2022, 19 in 2023, 22 in 2024, and two in 2025. Jet Airways (9W, Mumbai Int'l) has defaulted on some of its debts due for repayment at the end of 2018 and had, in consequence, its long-term credit rating lowered to very high-risk level, the Times of India has reported.

"Payment of interest and principal instalment due to the consortium of Indian Banks (led by State Bank of India) on December 31, 2018, has been delayed due to temporary cashflow mismatch and the company has engaged with them in relation to the same," the struggling carrier said in a Bombay Stock Exchange filing....
