Malev (MA, Budapest) will resume three times weekly B767-200ER service from Budapest to Bangkok on December 2. It will add Cluj as its fourth Romanian destination through a codeshare agreement with Carpatair (V3/Timisoara).
British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) will launch five times weekly B747-400 service from London Heathrow to Bangalore on October 30. It will also operate a five times weekly seasonal B737-500 service from London Gatwick to Grenoble as of December 10.
Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel) will add a daily B737-800 flight to Santiago de Compostela from its Palma de Mallorca hub on October 30. Its codeshare partner Hapag-Lloyd (HF/Hanover) will add a twice weekly B737-800 service from Palma de Mallorca to Cagliari. Air Berlin will however give up its Berlin Tegel-Manchester and Dusseldorf-Manchester routes at the end of the summer schedule.
Air Madrid (NM, Madrid Barajas) has leased an A330-200 from Novair (NVR/Stockholm Arlanda). It has also taken delivery of its first ex-Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt) A310-300. Air Madrid is planning to lease five A320-200s to add feeder flights from Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Milan and Paris to its long-haul hub in Madrid.
Cyprus Airways (1947) (CY, Larnaca) has sold 51% of its subsidiary Hellas Jet (T4/Athens) to air charter broker Air Miles (Athens). Hellas Jet currently operates three A320-200s on a charter and wet-lease basis only.
Alpi Eagles (E8, Venice Marco Polo) is operating a twice weekly seasonal Fokker 100 service between Bologna and Alghero until the end of August. It is reportedly planning to add a new route from Rome Fiumicino to Zurich.
Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt Int'l) will give up its Munich-Boston and Hanover-Vienna routes by the end of October. It will continue to codeshare with Austrian Airlines (OS/Vienna) between Hanover and Vienna. Lufthansa will resume daily A340-300 service between Munich and Dubai on November 5. It will operate a three times weekly A330-300 service from Frankfurt via Khartoum to Addis Ababa replacing the non-stop flights between Frankfurt and Addis Ababa and through flights via Cairo to Khartoum. ...
UM Air (UKM, Kiev Boryspil) has signed a codeshare agreement with Nouvelair (BJ/Monastir) for the Kiev Borispol-Monastir route. UM Air operates two weekly DC-9-50 flights on the route while Nouvelair offers a weekly A320-200 service.
Dauair (D5, Lübeck) will add a second ex-Carpatair (V3/Timisoara) Saab 340. It will start twice weekdaily service from Dortmund to Zurich and five times weekly services from Berlin Tempelhof to Warsaw and Hanover to Poznan on September 5.
Thomsonfly (BY, London Luton) will launch six times weekly services from Bournemouth to Alicante and from Doncaster/Sheffield to Amsterdam as well as two weekly flights from Bournemouth to Tenerife Sur and from Doncaster/Sheffield to Las Palmas and Tenerife Sur in early November. In mid-December, it will add new seasonal winter routes from Bournemouth to Lyon and Salzburg and from Doncaster to Lyon. Styrian Spirit (Z2, Graz) has taken delivery of its first CRJ-700. It will however return one of its four CRJ-200s to the lessor. It is considering adding new routes from Salzburg to Rome Fiumicino and from Klagenfurt to Amsterdam and Zurich.
Bulgaria Air (FB, Sofia) has added an ex-Varig (RG/Rio de Janeiro Intl) B737-300 and an ex-United Airlines (UA/Chicago O'Hare) B737-500. It will launch twice weekly B737-500 service from Sofia to Manchester on October 2.
