Volotea (V7, Asturias) has launched its 2020 programme, which boasts a total of nine million seats, and will see the airline operate 62,000 flights on 346 routes to 90 destinations. This includes the opening of 53 new routes and new A319-100 bases in Naples Capodichino, Lyon St. Exupéry and Hamburg Finkenwerder. flynas (XY, Riyadh) has firmed up a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) covering the purchase of ten A321neo(XLR)s. The tentative agreement was first announced during the 2019 Paris Air Show at Paris Le Bourget in June. Deliveries of the XLRs are due to start from 2025 onwards, flynas said in a statement.

Ghana set to order B787s, Dash 8-400s for new flag carrier

The Ghanaian Government has set in motion plans to establish a new national carrier following the signing of tentative aircraft order commitments during the ongoing Dubai Airshow 2019.

During the event, Ghanaian Minister of Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) for the purchase of three B787-9s. At the same time, he signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (Toronto Downsview) for six Dash 8-400s.


easyJet firms 12 A320neo options, defers 2021 deliveries

easyJet (U2, London Luton) has firmed options for twelve incremental A320-200neo, increasing the total number of aircraft of the type order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) to 129.

According to the UK-headquartered LCC, the 12 jets will deliver in 2024 under an existing 2013 agreement. In tandem with this move, easyJet deferred nine A320neo and three A321neo from 2021 to 2023 and beyond. Overall, its 2021 deliveries will reduce by 12 aircraft.

Kazakhstan's FlyArystan eyes thirty B737 MAX

Air Astana (KC, Nur-Sultan) has signed a Letter of Intent for thirty B737-8s for placement with its low-cost carrier division FlyArystan (KC, Nur-Sultan), Boeing said in a press release issued during the ongoing 2019 Dubai Airshow.

South African Airways (SA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) has outlined a plan in which renegotiated contracts could help it to cumulatively save ZAR1.8 billion rand (USD122 million), IOL News has reported.

Allegiant Air (G4, Las Vegas McCarran) has announced that it will open a base, in Des Moines, Iowa, with the operation scheduled to commence on May 14, 2020.

The ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) will base two A320-200s at Iowa state's capital city airport, which it said represents a USD50 million investment.
