Amazon.com has terminated, effective July 3, a CMI agreement with Silver Airways (3M, Fort Lauderdale International) involving the chartering in of five ATR72-500(F)s as the online retailer pivots away from turboprop operations, Cargo Facts has reported.

All five aircraft have been parked at Fort Worth Alliance since early July 3.

The Florida-based regional specialist entered the cargo market in late 2021, when it began operating the ATR - Avions de Transport Régional freighters it had sub-leased from Amazon. The e-commerce giant leases three of the aircraft from Aergo Capital and two from ACIA Aero, the ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows. The five aircraft were the only turboprops operated under the Amazon PrimeAir brand and the only freighters in Silver Airways' fleet.

"We're always evaluating our operations to better serve our customers. None of the changes we've made will impact our customers' experience," Amazon spokesperson Sam Stephenson said.

Silver Airways did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment. As recently as October 2022, the airline told ch-aviation it hoped to grow its Amazon operations.

The ch-aviation fleets module shows the Floridan airline also operates eight ATR42-600s and five ATR72-600s. Its subsidiary, Seaborne Airlines (BB, San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin), wet-leases two DHC-6-300s from Kenn Borek Air (KBA, Calgary).
