Hawaiian Airlines (HA, Honolulu) has scheduled the debut of its B787-9s for April 15, 2023, and plans to initially deploy the type on the Honolulu-San Francisco route.

Starting on May 14, the airline will deploy the aircraft on some Honolulu-Los Angeles International flights, and starting on May 15, on some Kahului-Los Angeles operations.

The airline has twelve B787-9s on order, including nine directly from Boeing and three from the manufacturer's lessor, Boeing Capital. The delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled for January 2024. The B787s will be used to partially replace the fleet of twenty-four A330-200s. It is evaluating increasing the B787 order in the future to continue the rollover.

Hawaiian Airlines' B787s are configured for up to 300 passengers, including 34 business class seats and 266 in the economy class.
