Nigerian Air Force (NGR, Lagos) is planning to launch United Nigeria (Lagos), a startup to be owned and operated by Aeronautical Engineering & Technical Services Ltd, a division of the Nigerian Air Force, according to Nigeria's Air Vice Marshal Alkali Mamu, the director of AETSL. The African Aviation Tribune writes that the carrier will shortly receive a B737-500 (NAF 916 / MSN 25791) and will initially provide ad-hoc charter services to the Nigerian and other African air forces in the form of troop transportation, before "later expanding into the scheduled passenger and cargo sector". A second aircraft of unknown type is expected in August. In the long run, AETSL also intends to venture into the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul sector through the construction of a facility at Lagos where land has already been acquired, with another facility in Abuja also planned.
