Bering Air (8E, Nome) has acquired eight new Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan 208EXs to replace its older 208B models director of operations, David Olson, has said.

Speaking to Alaska's KNOM radio station, Olson said the new turboprops would feature an upgraded anti-icing system thus improving the airline's dispatch rates during winter.

Bering Air has already taken delivery of three of the aircraft with the rest set to arrive by November. The older 208Bs are slated to be sold off.

Based out of Nome, Bering Air also operates Beech 1900Ds, Beech (twin turboprop) King Airs, Piper (twin piston) Navajos, CN-212s, and various helicopters. .

While it specializes in scheduled passenger and charter services throughout Alaska, as well as air ambulance and helicopter flights, it also offers ad-hoc charter flights to Chukotka in nearby Russia.
