HK Bellawings Jet (BWJ, Hong Kong International) took delivery of the world's first Bombardier Global 6500 on December 23, 2019, right after the type secured the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification.
The business charter specialist signed a commitment for up to eighteen Global 6500s/7500s in May 2018. It later, in stages, firmed orders for two Global 6500s and eight Global 7500s.
The Global 6500 entered into service on September 24, 2019, but has so far only been used as a manufacturer's demo aircraft. The Bombardier Business Aircraft jet received certifications from EASA and Transport Canada earlier this year.
The FAA simultaneously certified the Global 5500, an extended-range variant of the Global 5000.
