TAAG Angola Airlines (DT, Luanda 4 De Fevereiro) will lease four incremental A220-300s from Aviation Capital Group, with deliveries scheduled to run from January 2025.

"Incorporating four new A220 aircraft under this agreement is a clear sign of our international credibility and a major milestone in renewing the TAAG fleet. We are deeply committed to growing the company, leveraging our market share and destination portfolio," Chief Executive Eduardo Fairen said in an announcement made during the 2023 Paris Air Show.

The order is on top of the six A220-300s TAAG is expecting from Air Lease Corporation, ch-aviation confirmed. The deliveries of these aircraft are scheduled to begin in April 2024, more than six months later than originally planned owing to manufacturer delays. The state-owned carrier will use the A220s to replace its ageing fleet of five B737-700s.

The new commitment is for aircraft sourced from ACG's existing order book. The ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows the lessor has 20 unfilled A220-300 orders on top of the four aircraft of the type it already placed with airBaltic (BT, Riga).

TAAG is also expected to announce a widebody order shortly.
