World Airways (1948) (WO, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) has not suspended passenger operations as incorrectly reported by ch-aviation earlier on October 31. ch-aviation apologizes for the contents of its earlier posting today. Its contents were incorrect. The false posting read: "World Airways has suspended passenger services using its fleet of three MD-11s for the time being. ch-aviation has been exclusively informed that all three aircraft have been put into storage at Baltimore Thurgood Marshall with N273WA (msn 48519) to be scrapped soon. At this time, it is still uncertain as whether or not the other two aircraft, N271WA (msn 48518) and N272WA (msn 48437), have been permanently withdrawn from service. The airline had used the aircraft on a variety of ACMI leases, for the US military in particular especially, in which it played a significant role in connecting American bases in the US with the Middle East. World continues to operate three MD-11(F)s and two B747-400(F)s for its freight division." ch-aviation wishes to apologize sincerely for its erroneous reporting and has retracted its earlier news article in its entirety.
