The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has granted Air Changan (9H, Xi'an Xianyang) permission to expand its operational scope following an application filed late last year.

A regulatory filing released this week indicates that as per its request, the HNA Group unit is now able to operate passenger and cargo flights from beyond the confines of Shaanxi Province. Until now, Air Changan was restricted to using its three B737-800s to operate flights that originated from its Xi'an Xianyang hub.

The change in its operational scope is therefore expected to result in the opening of additional hubs and bases in the coming months.
