Pelita Air (IP, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Airbus Defense & Space concerning plans to acquire an unspecified number of A400M transport aircraft.

According to an official communique issued by the French Presidency, the LOI was signed by Pierre Jaffre, the president of Airbus in the Asia-Pacific region, and Dani Adriananta, the President Director of Pelita Air, on the occasion of French President Francois Hollande's visit to Indonesia this week.

The two sides will now set about negotiating the proposed deal's technical as well as commercial aspects before a final agreement is signed.

Using a fleet of one ATR42-500, two ATR72-500s, an ARJ-85s, three Dash 7s, six CN-212s, two Fokker 100s and a variety of helicopters, Pelita Air operates charter flights for and on behalf of the state oil company Pertamina specializing in VIP as well as oil and petroleum operations.
