Lion Air (JT, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) will be a launch customer for Boeing's new B737 variant, the B737 MAX 10, Lion Air Group President Director Edward Sirait has told Reuters.

According to the report, he did not specify the number of aircraft to be ordered. It is recalled that the Indonesian carrier group has 201 B737 MAX aircraft on order from the US manufacturer but has never given a full breakdown of its constituent aircraft or the order's switching options.

Last month, founder Rusdi Kirana told a press event that Lion Air Group, having been the B737-8's launch operator with its Malindo Air (Kuala Lumpur International) unit, would be the same for the B737-9 when it is delivered next year.

For its part, the B737 MAX 10 project is likely to be unveiled during the 2017 Paris Airshow due later this month.
