Sohar is set to become Oman's third international gateway after Qatar Airways and Air Arabia announced plans to serve the facility, located in northwest Oman just 236 kilometres from Muscat.
PACA said in a statement that Air Arabia will operate a 3x weekly return service to Sohar from Sharjah from July 9 with Qatar Airways to follow with a 3x weekly Doha Hamad International service beginning August 8.
Omani LCC SalamAir (OV, Muscat) started a 3x weekly service to Salalah on June 28 thus becoming the first commercial carrier to resume use of the airfield since Oman Air (WY, Muscat) withdrew in 2016 citing insufficient demand.
