Korean Air (KE, Seoul Incheon) has deferred delivery of its first A220-300s from Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) citing concerns about the prolonged issues affecting Pratt & Whitney's high-bypass geared turbofan engine family.

According to Aviation Week, President Walter Cho said delivery of the first aircraft, previously scheduled for September, will likely take place either later this year or early next year. The added time, he said, should allow Pratt & Whitney to resolve the PW1500G's current technical shortcomings.

The type's Asian launch operator, Korean Air has ten CS300s on order from Bombardier with options for an additional ten. Once in service, the type will initially be deployed on domestic Korean routes before being used for international flights to destinations in Japan and Southeast Asia.
