Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) has announced it has finalized agreements with US budget airline investment specialists, Indigo Partners LLC, and its four carriers for the purchase of 430 additional A320neo Family aircraft. The deal was first announced as a Memorandum of Understanding during this year's edition of the Dubai Air Show.

Under the terms of the order, the following budget airlines have acquired the following numbers and types of aircraft:

  • Frontier Airlines (F9, Denver International): 100 A320neo and thirty-four A321neo, deliveries of which will begin in 2021. No engine selection has yet been made. Frontier said in a statement it will use the additional 134 aircraft to grow its overall fleet substantially. With this new order, Frontier has more than doubled its order book for the A320 Family, which now totals 199 aircraft;

  • JetSMART (JA, Santiago de Chile): fifty-six A320neo and fourteen A321neo;

  • Volaris (Y4, México City International): forty-six A320neos and thirty-four A321neo, to be delivered from 2022 to 2026. These aircraft are in addition to the Mexican LCC’s current fleet of seventy aircraft and the committed forty-one A320neo Family aircraft to be delivered between the remainder of 2017 through 2021. The new aircraft will support Volaris' targeted growth markets in the United States, Mexico, and Central America.

  • Wizz Air (W6, Budapest): seventy-two A320neo and seventy-four A321neo, deliveries of which will run from 2021 to 2026 (inclusive). The new order will supplement an existing one for a further 135 aircraft, comprising eight A320ceo and seventeen A321ceo aircraft (both of which are due to be fulfilled by 2019) as well as 110 A321neo (due to be fulfilled by the end of 2024). The Hungarian LCC plans to use the new ordered aircraft to renew its existing fleet and provide additional capacity for future growth.
