US-Bangla Airlines (BS, Dhaka) has suspended flights to Nepal in the wake of the crash of one of its Dash 8-400s S2-AGU (msn 4041) while on approach into Kathmandu on Monday, March 12, which killed 49 of the 71 passengers and crew onboard.

In a statement to the UNB news agency, the Bangladeshi carrier's General Manager (Marketing Support & Public Relations), Kamrul Islam, said the suspension of its 4x weekly Dhaka-Kathmandu route came into effect from Wednesday, March 14 onwards. The move comes amid reports of a misunderstanding in runway allocations between the aircraft's crew and Kathmandu ATC in the lead up to the accident.

Aside from this route's suspension, US-Bangla Airlines is continuing to operate as usual serving destinations across Bangladesh as well as Thailand, Qatar, India, Singapore, Oman, and Malaysia using four B737-800s and three Q400s. It is also scheduled to make its China debut in early April with the launch of a 3x weekly return service to Guangzhou.
