Starlux Airlines (JX, Taipei Taoyuan) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for the purchase of five A350-900s and twelve A350-1000s. The agreement was announced during the ongoing 2018 Farnborough Airshow.

The commitment follows a decision announced earlier this year in which the Taiwanese start-up selected Airbus for its regional narrowbody fleet requirements. It plans to finalise leases for ten A321neo from third party lessors by the end of the year.

Starlux is in the process of completing its certification with the Taiwanese authorities. It plans to launch regional operations in early 2020, followed by long-haul services early in 2022.
