Bahamasair (UP, Nassau International) cancelled its flight from Nassau International to Cap Haitien on November 20, 2018, due to the ongoing civil unrest in Haiti. The carrier resumed flights to the country the day after but continues to monitor the situation.

Bahamasair's second service to Haiti, a 2x weekly flight to Port au Prince, operated as planned on November 21, 2018.

"Please note that the airline will continue to closely monitor developments in Cap Haitien and Port au Prince as we resume service to the island," Bahamasair said in a statement.

On November 21, 2018, the Bahamian Embassy in Port au Prince closed due to the worsening safety situation.

Unrest over corruption and politics in Haiti started last week and led to the deaths of at least eight people through November 20.

Bahamasair is the only airline linking the Bahamas and Haiti. All flights between Nassau and the two Haitian destinations are on board ATR72-600 equipment.
