SpiceJet (SG, Delhi International) plans to induct twenty B737-8s between April 2019 and March 2020 as it considers deploying the type to new medium-haul destinations in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and China, as well as to Kuala Lumpur International and Singapore Changi, Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh told Indian media.

As reported by The Hindu, Singh underlined that SpiceJet had "no immediate plans" to add widebody aircraft. SpiceJet was linked to the start of flights to London Gatwick and Manchester International this year using leased A330 equipment. Currently, however, it intends to serve medium-haul destinations with the newest generation Boeing narrowbodies.

The airline does not currently serve Malaysia, Singapore, China or Europe. Its only destination in South-East Asia is Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. In general, SpiceJet is a predominantly domestic Indian carrier with only 10.7% of its capacity deployed on international routes to Bangkok, Colombo International, Dhaka, Dubai International, Hong Kong International, Kabul, Malé, and Muscat.

SpiceJet currently operates twelve B737 MAX 8s and has a further 129 on order directly from the manufacturer. According to the ch-aviation schedules module, it bases its MAX 8s out of Ahmedabad, Bengaluru International, Delhi International, Hyderabad International, Kolkata, and Mumbai International.

Singh also said that during the fiscal 2019/20 year, SpiceJet planned to add between five and ten Dash 8-400s. It already operates twenty-seven Bombardier Aerospace turboprops and has a further twenty-five on order from the manufacturer.
