Neom Bay Airport, in northwestern Saudi Arabia, has opened to commercial traffic with Saudia (SV, Jeddah International) the first scheduled carrier to use the recently inaugurated facility.

Saudia said in a statement that it would run 2x weekly return flights to Neom Bay from Riyadh effective Sunday, June 30.

Located in northwestern Saudi Arabia's Tabuk Region, a strategically important area given it lies near the borders of Egypt, Jordan, and Israel, Neom Bay Airport features a single 3,757 metre-long runway, 15/33.

It will serve as a gateway to the city of Neom which will be a showcase for the kingdom's smart city initiative.
