Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) and JetBlue Airways (B6, New York JFK) have announced the signing a Letter of Intent (LOI) for an interline agreement.

In a joint statement, the carriers said the partnership will allow customers to make a single booking for connecting flights between Europe and the Americas. The actual agreement itself will be bookable in early 2020 in time for travel during the Summer 2020 season.

The partnership will connect more than 60 US and nearly 40 Caribbean and Latin American cities to Norwegian's network via New York JFK, Boston, and Fort Lauderdale International airports. The Nordic LCC currently offers more than 20 nonstop routes to Europe through these three airports.

“This new agreement with Norwegian seamlessly connects JetBlue’s robust network throughout the US, Caribbean and Latin America with the exciting European destinations on our new partner’s route map,” Robin Hayes, Chief Executive Officer, JetBlue, said. “Norwegian shares our belief that customers benefit when we can bring competition and low fares to the transatlantic market currently dominated by joint ventures, legacy alliances and sky-high ticket prices.”

For its part, jetBlue will enter the transatlantic market in 2021 when its first A321neo(XLR)s arrive from Airbus. Initial services will focus on serving London from Boston and New York.
