Breeze Airways (MXY, Salt Lake City) has said via its website that its planned launch as a charter carrier will now take place in 2021 as opposed to the originally planned second half of 2020.

The start-up did not disclose any further details, and it is unclear if it still intends to operate charter flights with ex-Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras E195s in addition to scheduled operations with A220-300s. The Brazilian airline said that while the sublease contract with Breeze Airways has not been terminated, deliveries of the aircraft would be delayed.

Breeze Airways, which is backed by Azul's founder David Neeleman, was due to take up to twenty-eight E195s from the Brazilian carrier, which would replace them with E195-E2s. However, Azul has paused its own fleet renewal programme due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Breeze Airways has sixty A220-300s on firm order from Airbus Canada (Montréal Mirabel) deliveries of which are due to commence in April 2021.

The carrier did not respond to further questions about its revised launch plans.
