Fiji Link (FJA, Nadi) has announced it will suspend its domestic services to Labasa airport due to the planned runway works at the airport between July 13 and August 4, 2020.

The airline said it would instead increase the frequency of services to Savusavu, which is also located on Vanua Levu island, around 85 kilometres away.

According to the ch-aviation schedules module, the domestic subsidiary of Fiji Airways (FJ, Nadi) currently serves Labasa from Suva (23x weekly) and Nadi (3x weekly), using a mix of ATR42-600 and ATR72-600 turboprops. In turn, Savusavu is served only 5x weekly from Suva with DHC-6-400s.

According to the Fiji Airports Company, the runway upgrade programme is part of its ongoing Outer Island Airports Development Programme which has so far seen tracks on each of Levuka Bureta, Lakeba, and Kadavu Island repaired and resurfaced.
