SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) is expected to be announcing up to 1000 job cuts and an additional restructuring plan this coming week that could include salary cuts of up to 15% according to a report by Danish TV station TV2. SAS had delayed the publication of its third quarter financial report as a result of on-going talks with a group of banks about a revolving credit facility. A group of SAS lenders including major international banks have reportedly has asked the governments of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, which jointly own the majority of the shares in the carrier, to provide loan guarantees for SAS. The European Commission has confirmed that it has been contacted to review if would be permitted under EU legislation given the current circumstances. In unrelated news, SAS plans to wet-lease a DHC-8-400 from subsidiary Widerøe (WF, Bodø) next summer season between June 24 and August 18 to temporarily operate on the carrier's routes linking Bodø, Tromsø and Trondheim due to lower demand during summer months. SAS typically uses a mix of B737-500s and B737-600s on the routes.
